How do you get a community to come together and enjoy the town they live in while getting to know one another? Give them music to listen to, a place for kids to run free, and some ice cold beer! Summertime in Hendersonville means the Rhythm and Brews Concert series on the third Thursday of every month from May to September.
Bands start to play at 5:30 as the sun begins its descent behind the mountains and by 9:30 when it ends, the stars have begun to make their appearance. Main Street is shut down, food and beer vendors have stands set up, and both residents and visitors of Hendersonville alike bring their lawn chairs to enjoy the show. And while the music may be fun to listen to with a cold IPA in your hand, it’s the conversation with friends that’s the real joy for everyone. Below is the line-up for this year’s show!
Here’s the 2023 Line-Up for the Rhythm & Brews Concert Series:
May 18: Hawktail [[Bluegrass/Americana/String]] with Holler Choir [[Americana/String]]
June 15: Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights [[Blues Rock/Southern Rock]] with Carolina Drifters [[Southern Rock]]
July 20: The Stooges Brass Band [[New Orleans Brass Band]] with Zydeco Ya Ya [[Zydeco/Cajun Swing]]
August 17: Fireside Collective [[Progressive Bluegrass]] with The Roving [[ Americana/Indie/Rock]]
September 21: Melissa Carper [[Americana/Western Swing]] with Angela Easterling & The Beguilers [[Singer/Songwriter]]
FOR KIDS
As parents of two kids, we feel completely safe allowing them to come along to the Rhythm and Brews event. In fact, some local vendors provide sidewalk chalk, hula hoops, family-sized jenga games, and other things for kids to enjoy. There is also the freedom to be able to run around with the kids they know from school and new friends that they make by playing.
THE BEER
The 2023 Rhythm & Brews Series is being sponsored by some of the very best breweries Hendersonville has to offer. Oklawaha, Dry Falls, and Guidon, along with the Flat Rock Cider Company, all have tents set up for the event and cold beer on tap. You purchase tickets and then turn them in for a beer at the brewery of your choice. All proceeds from beer and cider sales go to the Downtown Program, a 501c3 nonprofit that preserves the key things that make Hendersonville such a wonderful small mountain town to live in.
